Scholarships Available for Previous Jimmy (and Regional) Award Nominees

scholarships available jimmy award winners

If you were previously nominated for a Jimmy Award, then you can attend NTSA for free this summer! Thanks to a generous donor, we’re now able to offer full scholarships to any previous Jimmy nominees who are accepted to NTSA. We’ve never missed a Jimmy Awards ceremony (Marla Louissaint [NTSA ’14] nabbed her own statuette back in 2015!), and therefore we’re thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity to all of the high school and college students who've represented their regions at the Minskoff Theatre on Broadway.

The full scholarship is valued at $4,970 and includes tuition, accommodations, and meals during the three-week program, as well as transportation from our rehearsal site in Buffalo, NY to the final performance in New York, NY. All former Jimmy nominees auditioning for NTSA’s summer musical productions, Loserville (June 15-July 7) and The Dolls of New Albion (July 8-29), are eligible to receive funding.

As part of the donation, all previous nominees from participating regional awards programs for Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress who are accepted to NTSA will also receive a $2,000 partial scholarship. So if you were, for example, a Best Supporting Actress nominee at the Tommy Tune Awards, you’ll automatically receive a $2,000 scholarship if you are accepted to one of our musical theatre programs this summer.

Our application deadline is March 4, 2018 at 11:59 PM. Click here to apply. All applicants for our musical theatre programs must submit a video audition in which they sing a song of their choice in its entirety.

The National High School Musical Theatre (Jimmy) Awards is an annual awards ceremony that recognizes excellence in musical theatre performance amongst high school actors. Two students (one male and one female) from participating states are selected at regional awards ceremonies across the country, honoring the best high school productions in that area. Those students then come to New York City to participate in the Jimmy Awards ceremony on Broadway where the two top performers (selected by a panel of industry experts) receive the Best Performance by an Actress and Best Performance by an Actor awards.
