Rebekah Lane will be co-directing NTSA’s first devised work this summer. With an MFA from Towson University, Rebekah brings an incredible wealth of experience to NTSA. Previous writing and directing work includes Mindful Momentum and Foolish Bebop (Art in Odd Places Orlando and Creative City Project: Immerse), Finding Home (Creative City Project), Untitled #52 (Towson University), Words We Wear (Epic Vita), 39 Steps: An Improvised Spy Thriller (Orlando International Fringe Festival), and Bench and Chair (Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center National Puppetry Conference). She’s also an accomplished puppeteer, having toured with MicheLee Puppets and worked as the Director of Puppetry on Creation: Births of Mythology (Valenica College) and Phantasmagoria VII: The Cards They Are Dealt (Orlando Shakespeare Theatre). She has previously performed at Empty Spaces Theatre, Mad Cow Theatre, and Orlando Repertory Theatre.
In addition to her work as a director, devisor, and performer, Rebekah has also worked on the faculties of numerous colleges and universities, including Valencia College, the University of Tampa, Saint Leo University, and the University of Central Florida.
On her website, Rebekah writes about the theatre-making process: “I approach each new project with the focus of a high stakes-contract, and the sense of play you'd associate with a game of hide and seek. Creative collaboration is not my hobby; it is my job. I work hard at it. I love process, but I delight in successful project completion. I focus on finding the balance between the two.”
We are so excited to be working with Rebekah for the first time this summer! She brings an entirely different way of directing to NTSA. We’re looking forward to welcoming you to her off-Broadway team!
